Investing in automation and betting on innovative equipment is exciting! But it doesn’t happen overnight. If you have the motivation and drive to make a change, don’t hesitate to contact us. You’ll could be among the pioneers who choose greener options.

Eco-responsibility—a word we haven’t used much in our recent publications, don’t you think? Jokes aside, CARTIER doesn’t just want to talk about eco-responsibility; we aim to revolutionize packaging! A sustainable world is possible, provided we take the right steps. Integrating “green” innovations into our practices is one of them! That’s why we’re excited—and proud!—to introduce the brand-new Technoplat PW stretch paper wrapping machine from Robopac.

Replacing stretch film with paper? A bold move—one that Robopac dared to make! This Italian company, established in multiple countries, was the first to market a machine with such functionality. Equipped with a rotating table for pallet wrapping, this wrapper uses paper instead of plastic film. That’s the kind of green alternative we love at CARTIER! It’s also a groundbreaking way to reduce plastic consumption. In fact, Robopac estimates that 10% of stretch film packaging could be replaced by paper!

    • 5 trillion pieces of plastic currently float in our oceans.
    • 73% of beach litter is made of plastic.
    • By 2050, all seabird species will regularly ingest plastic.

These National Geographic statistics speak for themselves. More importantly, they highlight why reducing plastic use is part of the eco-responsible solution.

Several countries are already taking action. Proof? The various laws being enforced in Canada and beyond. But wanting change isn’t enough—we must be able to implement it! Finding new ways to design our packaging, ensuring we only use it when necessary, is a collective mission we must undertake.

Meet the wrapper that can help you on this mission: the Technoplat PW. A true innovation, this rotating table replaces stretch film with paper, allowing you to wrap pallets more sustainably. What about the safety of your goods during transport? Great question! Before making any changes, the stability of the load can be assessed in advance by our laboratory based on the type of pallet, weight, environment, and other factors.

Want to learn more? Here are some key technical features that will surely interest you:

  • Production capacity of 30 pallets per hour;
  • Automatic paper clamp and cutting system;
  • Water-based glue applied by a device to ensure paper adheres well to the pallet.
  • And without affecting recyclability;
  • Adjustable paper tension via a touchscreen control panel;
  • Maximum safety thanks to a multi-sensor mat that stops the cycle when and operator is detected

This machine undoubtedly aligns with eco-responsibility. However, as experts, we must add a clarification.

The Technoplat PW uses 100% virgin paper. Producing 1 g of this paper generates 1.17 g of GHG emissions, compared to 4.72 g of GHG for 1 g of 100% virgin plastic. At first glance, paper is clearly the greener choice. However, its production requires more water and energy.

As a result, using excessive amounts of paper to achieve the same protection as film might not be as eco-friendly as it seems.

What’s the takeaway? The Technoplat PW from Robopac is indeed a greener option… provided that:

  • The amount of paper used is reasonable relative to the GHG emissions produced.
  • The carbon footprint is genuinely lower than that of plastic.

Not only will you get more details about the Technoplat, but you’ll also be among the pioneers in choosing greener options. In fact, you’ll have the chance to see it in action at our facilities starting in May 2025. A more sustainable world—with you? At CARTIER, we believe it’s possible!
